Free personality tests are fun psychological quizzes that can help you understand your overall personal style related to your approach to tasks, ways of interacting with people, and type of activities you enjoy.

The free personality tests come in as a research survey. Although your answers don’t affect the result, they will become part of the provider’s research related to personality types.

There are also free psychological assessments offered as a marketing tool. The “free” word is actually a marketing gimmick that entices you to try a service or a product. Some personality assessment providers also use this tactic to attract potential test takers.

On a research survey, you’ll need to answer some questions about yourself. But the second type will allow you to download a test report that previews your personality type, which direct you to a paid, more comprehensive report.

The TypeFinder Reseach Edition

The TypeFinder personality assessment is a comprehensive personality test based on the 16-type system developed by Isabel Briggs Myers. If you get frustrated with your job, it can explain the reasons for your job stress and help you explore a career and personality fit.

I have taken the paid TypeFinder personality survey and write a review for the test. If you’d like to learn more about the TypeFinder and my test result you can find it here.

The Typefinder personality test also provides a free, research edition version. The questionnaire assesses your personality type on 4 dimensions of personality: Extraversion vs. Introversion, Sensing vs. iNtuition, Thinking vs. Feeling, and Judging vs. Perceiving.

You’ll answer 36 to 76 questions in about 15 minutes.

Once finished, you’ll get your four-letter personality type, such as ESFJ or INTP. Depending on the results, you may get more than one personality type to look over and choose from.
